For residents coming from Riverdale, Fordham, the Grand Concourse corridor, Pelham Parkway, or the South Bronx, transit access is genuinely straightforward.
For those driving, the Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) runs north-south through the western Bronx and is the primary route for residents coming from the northern neighborhoods or from Westchester. The Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95) connects east-west across the borough. The Bronx is also the only NYC borough on the North American mainland, which means it’s directly accessible from Westchester County without a bridge or tunnel a practical advantage for groups traveling from just outside the city.
